Can anyone out there tell me how much a 5″ X 18″ Micro Lam weighs per foot? I don’t like the idea of using a 25′ piece for a ridge beam!

My guess would be about 650 # or 26 # per lin. '

According to my GP chart, an 1 3/4" beam would weigh 8.2 PLF. Take that times 3 plies (24.6 PLF) and your 25' length, and I get 615 pounds. So Novy was about right.
Of course, that doesn't count another 100# of water that it's soaked up if it was stored ouside................
Keep in mind that you'll have a heck of a reaction to deal with at both ends - Make sure you have a way to support it.
