I have a redwood deck in good shape but it has very fine rock dust on it (from guys carrying 1/4- down the hill the deck is on).
I don’t want to refinish the deck but I’d like to get that abrasive dust off before it abrades the deck.
I tried Dawn (with a push broom, then 120 psi hose off) and also Wet & Forget but not having much success. The commercial and DIY deck washes/cleaners seem to be aimed at decks that are going to be restained.
I’d like to avoid pressure washing too.
Any ideas?

The fine dust is really hard to remove. Have to vac when dry as much dry as possible. Once you have vac’d as much dust off as possible, need to wet mop or sponge the floor multiple times. Just water, no soap or anything. Need to clean the mop or sponge often as you just kind of spread a paste around if the mop and sponge are dirty. I personally have found it best to work with a sponge and a bucket of water, so I can constantly wring the sponge clean with every swipe. If you want it spotless, it will take multiple passes. If it’s soaked into the grain to a point that you can’t clean it out can sand the deck down to work out of the grain and vac off as you go.
