What is the joist span?
12 ' from building joists 12" on center
I'm not an engineer but if I was building it, I would use 2 posts (6x6 notched to accept the double 2x10 beam) spaced 9 feet apart with the beam cantilevering 1 foot past the posts on each side. An engineer really should make the call though. The footings are just as important and should be sized according to the bearin capacity of your soil.
