Deck plank material- is there a non wood

For outdoor deck planking (the walk surface) in coastal south carolina (hot climate, humid) is there a synthetic material that is proven by time yet is not outrageously expensive? I re did mine with Cox brand no 1 treated wood 5 years ago, but now have two friends who are asking ME which synthetic should they use???

depends on what you consider expensive i guess. this stuff is a bit pricier than most but in my neck of the woods, contractors seem to think that timbertech is the best stuff.
