Fine Home building recently had a couple articles on building wood decks over living space. I would like to have a covered deck over one room and a screened-in porch over another room. I live near Denier and having outside space is a big reason that we moved into the mountains. Will I run into problems if I use flagstone or brick instead of wood? (I know that the foundation will have to be built to withstand the extra weight.) Do I still need a 1/4:12 slope for water/snow runoff? Will I need special moisture barriers on the floor like they advised with uncovered wood decks? Thanks. sonja
