Can anybody tell me why every now and then, seems like it is mostly now!, I get dent marks while installing 3/4 hw flooring when I am banging with the Porta Nailer 401? The 401 is the non-pneumatic, brute force, elbow, arm and shoulder grease activated nailer.
The bite marks are coming from the, don’t know what you call it, edge ‘teeth’ located at the outer left and right in the front of the tool base. This is right by the orifice where the nail shoots out. If you can picture this, the nail hole is in the middle of a metal type ‘tongue’ that is not part of the base of the nailer. At either side of this metal tongue is the base of the nailer and the ‘teeth’ are part of this base.
I have tried every which way possible. Holding the nailer tight against the tongue, pushing down to minimize movement and every now and then I get a bite mark. I am missing something really obvious? Can this tongue by adjusted a tiny bit?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am doing the last bedroom upstairs and it just seems that it is happening more frequently.
Thanks in advance!!

I noticed that on a Porta-nailer that I used to rent once and a while. I fixed it by buying a Bostich air powered nailer.
