Did Mill’s Pride go out of business?

mwgaines | Posted in General Discussion on June 27, 2008 11:08am

Several years ago, I remodeled my kitchen with some RTA Mill’s Pride cabinets. They’ve held up very well and I’d like to purchase some more for another remodel. I bought them at HD, but they don’t offer them anymore. Does anybody here know if they’re still available?

Thanks.

New knowledge is priceless.

Used knowledge is even more valuable.

You can still get them at Home Depot.  They still carry the line, but they stopped stocking them in the stores.  I just found this out a few months ago when I needed to get just a door for a cabinet and used to be able to get such things in the store.  I asked the people there and they ordered it for me and let me know about the new system.

    Hope this helps.  Rich

Home Depot no longer carries Mill's Pride

Home Depot and Mill's Pride parted ways and went out of business.  Home Depot will not honor the Mill's Pride Warranty because Mill's Pride is out of business and in the contract you should contact the company that manufacture the product.  That leaves Home Depot liability free of any Warranty issues.

You can buy the cabinets and doors thru another company not associated to Home Depot nor Mill's Pride by the name of Mill's Pride Kitchens which replaces the now defunked company.

The website is the following http://www.millspridekitchens.com

I installed some two months ago.

Purchased by the HO at HD.

Maybe they have different lines,,,,, and the quality changes.

The ones I installed,,,,,,,,hopefully,,,,,,,never again. I did not see much in the way of "Pride"

This was about an hour north of Toronto.

    Good weekend, H

"they were bought out by masco which is owned by Home Depot Home "Masco is not owned by Masco. It is a publicly traded company.http://investors.masco.com/"

That's what I was thinking too. I knew HD owned mill's pride but masco is a large company with lots of subsidiaries. I alway know what HD owns by look at the address on the box, if it say Atlanta, GA, I pretty much know its an HD owned company.

It appears that they are now using t he name Distinctions for both RTA and assembled cabinets. http://www.distinctionscabinetry.com/Pages/default.aspxAnd I see that Masco bought Mills Pride in 99. I got the impression that this was recent, but when I went back see that the OP did not give any date."I alway know what HD owns by look at the address on the box, if it say Atlanta, GA, I pretty much know its an HD owned company."In most cases I don't think that accurate for who OWNS the manufacture.Looking here I don't see any references to anyother parts of the company except Expo and t he international stores.used to have a links for different supply companies that they owned, but those have been sold off.But a lot of Trademarks are owned by HD. For example Hampton Bay is a HD brand for lighting. The fans come from King of Fans, but I don't know if they are also the "source" for their other lighting or not. They are use Home on some of the stuff that they source from other companies to their specs. And Lowes uses LG Sourcing. You will find that on a lot inhouse brands at Lowes. Here is Masco's cabinet lines in the US.http://www.mascorcg.com/MRCG represents some of the industry’s most recognized and trusted brands, including KraftMaid¯ Cabinetry, Venicia¯ by KraftMaid, Ascentia™ by KraftMaid, Cross Creek¯ by KraftMaid, Distinctions¯ , Woodgate™, KraftLine™ and Mill’s Pride¯.http://www.qualitycabinets.com/index.jsphttp://www.merillat.com/.

I have em in my kitchen - put them in back in 98. Not too bad if you assemble them properly. Also used them in a client's laundry room. The laundry room was the nicer Maple doors - man, you had to go through a bunch of packages to get doors that didn't have splotches on them. I'd never order them now as you'd probably get a full 75% of them that would be questionable. The larger doors of the pantry cabs were prone to cracking - had to open a few of those before finding decent ones.Big question for me - is - are they still honoring the lifetime warranty?I ask cause the thermo foil wrap is coming loose on some of the drawer fronts after 10 years or so.Back then, you could simply call them up and they'd send you replacement pcs. no questions asked - wonder if you can still get ahold of them for warranty parts/components now?JT

Are you sure they did not buy it when they bought Ridgid? (;-)  Or was that when Lowes bought Taunton?

Masco would be a little large for HD to swallow I believe, I can't remember how many lines but it is very substantial if scope.

Acutally I have done a bunch of investigative reporting and found the real truth.Taunton owns both Lowes and HD and Masco. But Taunton is owned by a mid-east oil sheik. But the oil sheik is just a front. It is really owned by Rez and Junkhound and everything that they sell comes from the stock intheir sheds.Yes, Masco has lot of lines.Delta/Perless plumbing and American Bath for show and tub units are a couple of common names. But if you look at their website those are just a start..

Home Depot does not owned Masco

Home Depot does not own Masco Corporation.  The Mills Pride was sold to Masco back in 2002 but went out of business in 2012-2013 and closed down the plant. Warranty is not in effect since the company was shut down.  Any warranties are not going to be covered due to the contract with Mill's Pride that states that they should go to the Manufacturer which is now close.
