I’m installing a new dishwasher in a kitchen remodel. The guy who did the rough in — now MIA — set up what I believe to be a waste line in 5/8 copper coming out of the wall into the sink cabinet. Behind the wall, it goes up a few feet to a Johnson Tee, down to a trap and then ties into the sink waste pipe and vent.
To me this seems like a great way to vent the heat and steam outside the house, via the Johnson Tee, instead of by the sink. Trouble is, dishwasher install instructions say the connection is supposed be 20 inches off the floor, and it’s not. More like 10. I don’t really understand.
Anybody have experience with this?

dishwasher waste usually goes into the garbage disposal run your hose as high as you can under the countertop and you wnnt need to use an air gap fitting
Yeah, I know, but in the meantime I just found a City of Seattle diagram of exactly what I'm talking about. It's attached. Looks like I can connect the waste line directly to the copper coming out of the wall instead of using the wye in the sink tail piece.
