Distance Laser Measuring Tools – feedbak
Hi All –
I’ve got my eyes on either the Stabila or PLS Laser Measuring Distance Tool. Just writing to see if anyone over own/used one extensively ?
I’d love to hear your comments or feedback on this item if you have.

The new JLC has a rundown on these tools. I haven't read it yet...
I bought the Strait-Line tool and it is a waste of money. Highly unreliable, probably the reason it was excluded in the review.
I played with the PLS device at the JLC show last month and was impressed; it had fairly long range and had excellent repeatability. It was also quite expensive.
I haven't tried the Stabila, but quality is never compromised in what they build, so my guess is you can count on either one.
Most I've seen are +/- 4" or something in 50'. Not enough accuracy for me to give up a tape.

You're right, they are way too inaccurate for measuring for a cut, but I wanted one for estimating purposes; so I wouldn't have to break out a 30' tape to measure a 42' wall. I'd round up, anyway.
I never met a tool I didn't like!
