While at the local orange box I couldn’t help but think a couple of adjustable/foldable sheetrock squares would provide all the materials needed to make a stair wizard, not that it has to be so fancy as the quick site built models work just as well as others have posted.
Anyway, with a couple of 11″ chunks cut for the ends, some careful trimming of all the parts on the miter saw, a couple of hole and new threaded knobs to tighten things down, it’s done and works well.
I couldn’t stand all the ruler marks on the face of the aluminum so sanded them off, but it probably would be cleaner to use a stripper of some sort to get the silk screened rulers off without damaging the look of the uniform aluminum surface.

Nice. I always like a tool a little better when I can build it for much less than store bought.
