I plan on building a small shop (~440 s.-ft) and want to install a tile roof to match my house. It’s a fairly basic 4:12 roof with no protrusions. Is this a job a DIY’er can handle or should I leave it to the pros? Does anyone know of any good references for installing a tile roof? Thanks!

If you know how to use a ruler/tape you should be able to do the roof. Most mfgs. of tile would have a guide for installing there product . Don.
*Something to consider: Tile roofs are a long term product. Choose accessories that are similarly long term... I was called for a roof leak on a 98 year old terra cotta roof. The tiles are in decent shape, but the flashings, etc have obviously been redone many times (with varying degrees of skill). I'm thinking stainless steel nails. Copper flashing. Heaviest felt you can get, lead vent boots instead of PVC (if any), etc... The upcharge on these materials won't set you back too much considering the small scale of the roof.
