I’ve always heard that concrete continues to cure up to 40 years or so. I’ve always assumed that applies to concrete subject to freezing temperatures i.e. exterior concrete. What this implies is that freezing doesn’t stop the long term curing process.
What I’m particularly curious about is how freezing affects the short term curing process. For example, if I pour the bond beam I need to pour during one of the warm weeks we’re having here in Northern Illinois, will a hard freeze end the curing process or just delay it until it warms above 32 degrees F.
What do all the chemical engineers have to say out there?
