   This one caught me off guard, In the city of Raleigh NC one needs a privilege license to pull permits inside city limits. I happpen to rent in Raleigh and work out of my apt. My truck has my company name on it which prevents me from getting a license to do proper business in the city. Serveral options (1)no permit work in Raleigh. (2)move out of city limits. (3)rent office space outside city limits. (4)remove all lettering from truck.

   I got lucky, while I was waiting to see the person higher up in the dept.the person helping me ask if I agreed to get magnetic covers and used them every time I park the truck at my apt. they would approve my appilcation. I signed on the dotted line, my sign men is going to make me new signs. Can you imagine a person from the inspection dept being sent out to see if my lettering is covered. Frist offense gets a warning, Second is $100.00 - $1000.00 fine and a court apearance. any ideas on how to remine myself to put the covers on every time i park at the apt. besides a court appearance.

   *Robert, Let me get this straight because I am a little bit confused. First I can understand that you need a privledge permit to work in Raleigh. But, are you saying that if you live in Raleigh that you cannot recieve a permit to work if your truck has a business name on it. Could you recieve these same permits if you just did'nt live in Raleigh? Please elaborate.

   *cosmo the skiny is, a home based buisness located in a residental area is resicted as to just what one can do for business. Examples would be making noise from manufactoring items , advertizing on truck and buildings. all I have to do is get an address outside of the city limits for my office and then I can leave my truck in the driveway.

   *Lemme git this straight.The people of Raleigh don't want Raleigh-ians working in their town? What the hell is a priveledge licence?They went so far as to say that if you pretend (cover up your sign with a magnetic one) that you're not working out of Raleigh it's ok?Man the south never ceases to amaze me.
