A hollowcore door installed during a recent renovation swings open unless the doorknob latch is engaged in the strike plate. The door and frame seems plumb and square. Hinges are properly mortised, and screwed tightly to both door and frame. Any suggestions?

This was covered a few weeks ago.
Remove one hinge pin, bend it slightly with a pair of pliers or a hammer and reinstall it. The friction will keep the door wherever you want.

I wonder if they ever fixed the door to Room #119 at University Lodge located in Davis, Calif. I used to work there 30 years ago and that one door always did that.
I think that even tho it looks plumb, it probably isn't. All you have to do is take out the old jamb and put in a new one, this time getting it absolutely vertical.

If the door is in fact properly installed, the fault could lie in the hvac system
