I had some complaints about double hung windows and am not sure what to do.
The ones I’ve dealt with have spring loaded aluminum tracks on the sides.
Some are to tight and have some paint on them. So I put some grease on the aluminum and they moved better. I also screwed in the screws on the aluminum tracks.
The last ones were to loose and wouldn’t stay up.
Is there something I can put on the aluminum that will make it sticky?
I was thinking paraffin wax.
Thanks!

They sell a spring clip that slips alongside the sash and will hold it up. It's meant as an inexpensive alternative to actually fixing broken sash weight cords.

Thanks! Sounds fast, easy, and cheap. This is for rentals and the tennents complain.
The landlord hasn't said anything.
But I was messing with one Saturday and threw my back out. It was over the kitchen sink so I couldn't get under it.
So I though I need to do something. "There are three kinds of men: The one that learns by reading, the few who learn by observation and the rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves."Will Rogers
Can ya not pinch the jamb liner closed behind the stop? The parting bead edge is pretty fixed, but the stop edge should be able to be prised away from the stop, and add some more drag to the friction.
A quick wiggle with a putty or taping knife should do it.
