Our crew has been burning through drill holding devices (holster type) and I was just about to go get some custom made which in retrospect still probably would not have worked.
The holsters (Makita, Occidental Leather, DeWalt, and innumerable off brands bought wherever) we have tried have either fallen apart or the strap that acts as a safety similar to a gun holsters either velcro or snaps stop working or fall apart. We started using safety leashes from the drill to the tool belt to save the big drop from happening because inevitably the drill was going to eject. The biggest problem seemed to be the fact that holsters cannot allow for the critical balance point that occurs due to the weight of the battery in the handle. We use T-handle drills by the way.
Just after coming back from the custom sewing shop run by a friend where I had left a drill off to get a custom holster made I received a Tool Crib catalog and inside there was an ad for the Prazi “Bigg Lugg Cordless Drill Holder” which was billed as the “Only solution to carry a cordless drill” I was somewhat skeptical but ordered some. Upon receipt of the holder and after using it I think they may be right!
I have had Prazi stuff before (beam cutter and 30 oz. cartridge glue gun) and have been less than impressed. This little doo-hickey however is simple in design and execution.
We have also been looking for a way to hold our Pageris foam guns and it works for that too! I would venture to say that having one of these hanging on your belt would save bending over to pick up whatever tool you may be using cordless or corded.
