I would like to construct an inexpensive sauna in my basement.
Does any one know how to do this,
or if there are plans on this?
I hope to not have to buy an expensive suana kit. Just construct a 6′ by 4′
wooden frame, and heat it.
Sounds simple, I just want to make sure its safe!

I built just what you describe! Just the right size for basement application. Make inside at least 6'6" for enough room to lie down on the bench. I lined walls and ceiling with cedar, insulation and plastic behind. I put a trap door in the ceiling for access to plumbing from the bathroom above. Buy electric heater from a Spa store. Mine cost about $500. Seems a little pricey(Finnleo is the name). Get the right size stove to match your cubic footage. My sauna takes one-half hour to warm up which is just right. My sauna is connected to a bathroom with a shower, which is nice too.
I have another sauna at my cabin -- wood fired. But that is a separate building. You don't want a woodfired sauna in your basement(steam, water, fire) Good Luck, Jim
