Drywall gun for sale

DustinT | Posted in Reader Classified on April 2, 2007 10:34am

I have a Dewalt DW272 drywall screwgun for sale.  Bought it when I built my house, and want to dump it.  I’ve only used it on my house.  If I could get $50 plus shipping I would be grateful.  They are selling for $95 on amazon.com.

Thanks,

Dustin

That's a nice story. While I'm sure you're a wonderful person, anyone can be anything on the internet. The fact is, I don't know you, and have no way of knowing the source of the tool.

This is why I don't do business at internet auction sites. I have seen far too many "sell on the internet" and pawn businesses act like magnets to the thieves amongst us.

Maybe I won't get the "best possible bargain" by going to the tool store, or the industrial supplier, but I will KNOW the tool came into my hands honestly. I also know it's the real thing, and not some China clone srap stuffed into a 'recycled' case.

You have a nice story as well.  Keep your attitude to yourself, as I, for one, do not care for it.  If you really were interested, I would send it COD, although I don't think it would be worth it for either parties.

      Regards,

      Dustin

      That was out of line.

Ya, it was out of line.

But not necessarily THE out of line as much as just failing to see how his post could be read by others from his lack of defining the intent of the post better.

In one aspect the reading of the post could seem to be be calling the Original Poster a liar, fraud, thief or all three.

Then again, if read from a different context, he could just be voicing why he doesn't buy from pawn shops or internet sites and the OP's post just being the focal point for the direction of his response.

Perhaps his lack is in his unintentional appearance of slamming of the OP from an aggressive personality coming out thru his print without the direct comment something more akin to 'You ARE a deceitful liar and I am reporting you to the moderators!'.

Both posters appear to have been around here long enough to know the lay of the land and my money's on a lack of understanding being the catalyst of the dissension.

        Any takers?

be saying ten times real fast 'a questionable case of a recycled case of China clone crap.'

If he had omitted the first paragraph, it would have come across less personal."Put your creed in your deed."   Emerson

"When asked if you can do something, tell'em "Why certainly I can", then get busy and find a way to do it."  T. Roosevelt

          1. rez | Apr 03, 2007 06:54pm | #20

True, but it can be read in a mellower light in that that paragraph could even be used as a disclaimer of sorts as his word use of... 'While I'm sure you're a wonderful person, anyone can be anything on the internet. The fact is, I don't know you, and have no way of knowing the source of the tool.'

I hope he returns and defines his post. Maybe it was a hairday rant response and I'm totally off on this surmising.

I'm still leaning towards the view of maliciousness being unintentional.

Sure it could have been taken either of two ways. I happen to think that if he had wanted it to be taken in th emore diplomatic way, he would have worded it like that. But I won't argue it either way, which ios why I limited myuself to a one line statement instead of castigating Reino

Get over yourself man.  That was pretty weak.  I sell tools I don't use anymore all the time on the internet.  I must be stealing them too, huh?  In fact, I'd bet this is probably one of the safest places you could buy a used tool from.  What junkie is gonna take the time to register here, post and ad, wait for a response, pack up and ship, and then wait for the lousy $50 check to clear before they get their fix?  Use your head dude.... you're way smarter than that.View Image

      You're reaally Grant...right? LOL

You know, not to generalize, but the 29% of people who still support President Bush are the ones who love to pronounce themselves more patriotic than the rest of us. But just saying you're patriotic is like saying you have a big one. If you have to say it, chances are it's not true.

You're all quite correct, I should have 'defined' myself better.

I have no quarrel with the OP. As I noted, I'm sure he's a wonderful guy. But ... what about me?

I just checked my e-mail. It is a sign of the times that roughly 75% was from patently fraudulent parties. Heck, on e-mail claimed to be from me! The internet is rife with scam artists.

Likewise, several e-mails purported to address issues with my order at (fill in the vendor), problems with my PayPal account, problems with my bank account, etc. Too bad I have never done business with any of the parties referenced. Perhaps more criminals looking for victims?

Not all the fraud is on the part of the vendors. There are ways to spoof the seller, to provide a credit card number that will sail through the system, yet not be valid. Many legit vendors have lost out on these scams.

For a period, I had the 'pleasure' of living next to a den of criminals. (I can say this, because at least 7 of the regulars are currently behind bars). With their arrival, a new "sell on the internet' business opened across the street. With their arrests (on sundry charges), the place closed up. It was no coincidence that my neighbors were in&out of that business regularly.

Even a search of this site will uncover a number of posts which start out "my truck was broken into, and I found my stolen stuff on Ebay." Even the local paper has run stories, some of which included copies of the auction site picture of the stolen goods.

It's not just "buyer beware" ... it's 'seller beware' too!

The fact remains, however friendly I may be with someone in a chat room, or on a forum ... none of us really know the other. As the sundry 'child molester stings' demonstrate, the worst predators make themselves look safe, harmless, and innocent.

The purpose of my post was to serve as a 'wake up call' to those who have become complacent.

Am I a terrible person. Maybe I am ... but I'm not asking you to send me money, either.

Point taken well.  I just thought you came off a bit confrontational.  No hard feelings here.

Perhaps you should contact the SYSOP and voice your concerns.

The sole purpose of this folder is for folks to sell what they got.

Maybe Breaktime oughtta do away with it altogether.
