My wife and I moved into a forty year old home last November and are preparing to have the duct work cleaned. We have a two month old son and are wondering about two materials a cleaning company has recommended be put into the duct work when they have finished cleaning. These materials are: Microban Disinfectant Spray Plus and Linset Duct Seal. Yes I’ve read the MSDS sheets, but they are only partially comprehensible to me. Should I have the cleaning followed up with the application of these two products?

The microban yes, the linset duct seal I've never heard of this product before so no opinion on that.
If at all worried about the little whipper snappers lungs, have it done on a friday and go visit someone for the weekend. Leave the fan on full and crack a window or two.
I think the Microban is the same stuff they use on those balls in the McDonalds playgrounds, but you'd have to double sheck that.
Witha 2 month old son. consider getting a low level carbon monoxide monitor for the infant's room: infants are very vulnerable to CO poisonig.

"preparing to have the duct work cleaned."
WHY?
http://www.epa.gov/iaq/pubs/airduct.html
"If no one in your household suffers from allergies or unexplained symptoms or illnesses and if, after a visual inspection of the inside of the ducts, you see no indication that your air ducts are contaminated with large deposits of dust or mold (no musty odor or visible mold growth), having your air ducts cleaned is probably unnecessary."
But you really need to read the whole article for the pro's and con's and potential benifits and problems.
Our house was used as a rental home by the previous owner. When we moved in air filters in the attic unit were missing and a visual inspection of the ducts suggested the unit was run without for some time. They are noticibly dirty.
