Hi All, just visited my b-i-l and he had recently laid DuraCeramic tiles on his finished basement floor. Although they appear to be a sort of laminate (sort of like Pergo flooring, only on a softer/thinner backing) they felt very warm and comfortable. He said they install very easily and take an acrylic “grout” that never needs to be sealed.
I was falling in love. We’re building a new home and I was starting to think we could use this stuff – at $3.80/s.f. – versus the hardwood or slate flooring my wife has been considering. However when he showed me a few scrap pieces I slapped his carpenter’s knife at it (granted not a real world simulation, but we have two small kids that are liable to drop all kinds of stuff on the floor) and it marked up pretty easy. Now I’m wondering about it’s durability. I think it’s fine for my b-i-l who doesn’t have little ones, or a pet, running around…but what about the “real world”? 🙂
Does anyone have experience w/this stuff and it’s durability?
Thanks, Rob
