Im looking at gettting the Bosch 5412 12″ sliding miter saw. What is the most efffective way for dust controll on these? does the stock bag work well? or a shop vac pluged into the dust bag port?
Im open to ideas.
Thanks

I have the 10" version of this saw and have found that the bag captures maybe half of the sawdust while a vac catches considerably more. Your are likely to find the vac allows too much dust to escape in which case one of those hoods that are coming out on the market located behind the saw might serve. At that point, however, you have a major piece of equipment to deal with.
Thanks,
Is there a compact hood that fits right behind the blade to collect the sawdust?
There is this, from Rousseau, but I cannot say how it works.

Thanks, I was looking for something a bit smaller that moved with the saw.
Both my choppers are equipped with baggies, and IMHO, they are worthless. At cleanup time, no matter what, it takes a bunch of sweeping and vacuuming to get all the debris that did not make it into the baggies.
I have read the reports of what you get when the Festool Kapex is mated with a vac, and that sounds like what you need if you are inside and need to keep sawdust down to the minimum.
For me, the FastCap collapsible tent-like rear hood looks like the right way to better situations with non-Kapex saws. Otherwise, you just gotta keep sweeping and vacuuming to clean up.

Northern Tool and Equipment has them, as do other online vendors.
