Easy Tile

yojimbo2 | Posted in General Discussion on May 31, 2009 02:50am

Anyone used EasyMat, available at Home Depot. It is a tile underlayment. Is this product for real? I don’t get it, it is like a foam mat, what?I usually use Ditra, but in this case, I cannot use Ditra as it is limited to tiles 1″ square and up. My current project has tiles smaller than that.

I am trying to avoid using 1/4″ hardibacker.

    >> I am trying to avoid using 1/4" hardibacker.<<

    Why?

    Too much elevation gain?

1/4" Hardie sounds like the right answer to the problem.

Unfamiliar with Easy mat, very familiar with Hardie.

Looks like I may go with the Hardi, although I thought my Hardi days were past me. I love the ease of use of the Ditra, but it has its limitations.

Ask over at John Bridges Forum but I almost bought the Easymat once but heard some bad things about it..but can't remember what...something aboutt he self stickiness of it.....and then my HD stopped carrying it.

From what I heard by contractors I know by me they had issues with it's self stick feature.

Thanks for the link to JBridge. That was the funniest thread I think I have read in a very long time. They pretty much trash on the product. Just the info I was looking for.
