*Or http://electrician.com.
*Don't know of any forums off hand, but you can always try :Your local building inspectorA reputable local electrical contractorA local electrical supply store And/or buy and read the 2 books (Basic Home Wiring and Advanced Home Wiring) published by the Black & Decker Home Improvement Library. These books can be found at Lowes, H.D., Walden Book Stores, your local library, and a whole lot of other places. It's a good, solid text book manual that is easy to read and understand. Davo
*how dare you suggest such things??? Jeff
*Why not post here ? Plenty of knowledgeable people.
*AJ once dispairingly (?) called this site "Fine-electric-wiring" or similar - what was that quote AJ?
*Johnnie:I got a lot out of the two books that Dano's recommending. Taught me most of the basics. The one that I turn to most times now is Rex Cauldwell's "Wiring a House," published by the guys that run this forum (Taunton). Your local inspector can be really good or a jerk - I've had both. My current one is great, and there's nothing like having a guy there to look at your work. Link to Rex's book:http://www.taunton.com/store/pages/070244.asp
*The Electricians toolbox forum is for pros only. At least that's what it says. They don't like dealing with homeowners and DYI'rs at all. It is an excellent forum but it's not what Johnny needs.
*I got the tauton book and the black and decker books, they good, but need more. beside you know how every step i look for more data. If anybody need a plumbing forum I know of a good one.
*I've looked at both those electrical boards, they tend to be a tad grumpy with fundamental questions. So, post your questions here, and if you stump us, then go try the other places.-- J.S.
*Todayshomeowner has a low brow electrical forum. Click Electrical under "Categories" and the click the "go" box under forums. This is a site for those have difficulty connecting fans and receptacles and such.I've humbly attached a URL but have never done it before so hope it works.http://www.todayshomeowner.com/forums/electrical.html -Peter
*Johnnie,I don't know of a good forum, but I know a great electrician who will answer anything I ask of him, and for free even. I just need to keep him busy. Go ahead and post your questions and see if you have any luck. I sure could prod him a little for some help. And I would sure like to have the name of that plumbing forum.Cole
*plbg.com
*Some others that I like:http://www.thathomesite.comhttp://www.doityourself.comhttp://www.forumco.com/homewiring/default.asp
*I like Rex Cauldwell's book, but I found it a bit skimpy in a few spots. However, add in Code Check Electrical, and you're most of the way there. Andy
*I think Dan's House Wiring Forum is a pretty good place to get electrical questions answered. It is not as lively as Breaktime, but a couple of electricians will usually respond with a straight forward answer. Often, Dan himself will respond. The site is at:http://www.danswiringpage.com/The site has frames, so I can't give you a direct URL to the discussion forum, so you have to go to his main page and then page down to near the bottom and click on a smallish blue box to get over to the discussions.
*FineElectromocutions ...near the ever so electrified e stream,aj
*Casey Dans site is real cool thanks
