I am in the process of installing a owner owned power pole (PG&E’s title) and all has gone well thus far but I need to confirm a couple of things.
The details:
Location – Northern Bay Area, CA.
Layout – PG&E delivers service to the top of the pole. I supply a 100 amp main breaker on the pole and a 100 amp subpanel in the house.
1. The home has 100amp service. The distance from the service head to the main breaker on the pole is 20′ and the distance between the main and the sub is 40′. So I have a total run of 60′ using #2 wire. I just want to make sure there is no problem with a 60′ run using #2 wire.
2. I understand the common is not suppose to be spliced anywhere along the path between the service head on the pole and the subpanel in the house. If this is true, do I strip a couple of inches of cover off at the main breaker connection and then pass the cable run through to the subpanel connection?
Thanks
