3 years ago I put in drain tile on the exterior on my footings. There is no drain tile under the basement floor at the footings. After parging, sealing and styrofoam insulation was put on the walls, I put in one-two inch diameter gravel in the trench that is anywhere from 2-4 feet in width. With all this in place, I was wondering about removing the gutters and allowing the water to go into the ground. I live in SE Wisconsin with heavy clay soil.
2 Scenarios:
1. Would allowing water to drain into gravel and go down into the tile work?
2. If I dug down 2 ft, put in a plastic membrane to stop water from going further, then another corrugated drain tile in this trench, backfill with gravel, is it feasible? I would trench a pipe to a ditch to remove the rainwater.
