OK, since you guys helped me last time, I figured I’d take advantage of you again!
A customer of mine is insisting on using a company called BathFitters. These guys install a covering over the old bathtub along with a wall surround. They’re francised throughout the country from what I understand.
What I’d like to know is, does anybody here have any experience with them at all? If you do, are you happy with the way the job came out? Also, how do they install the new drain?
I contacted my local francisee here and was greeted with a rather hostile attitude. It seems that they DON’T like talking to contractors and would rather deal only with the homeowner. I did find out that a basic job starts out at $1200 and goes up from there. When I see those one piece tub/surround combos (the closest thing comparable to the BathFitters) going for less than $400 (some as low as $200), I wonder what’s the big advantage going the BathFitter route. Hell, using a steel tub ($110) and tiling the walls ($170 and up for materials), still leaves plenty of space to include labor and still be a better job than the BathFitters.
I don’t know why she wants to go the BathFitter route. Is there an advantage that I’m missing?
Thanks in advance.
