Hello everyone. I am in the process of acting as the general contractor for a large addition on my own home (adding a second story on a ranch). All of the walls are up and Tyveked and the roof is shingled. I would like to go with fiber cement siding but the cost is somewhat prohibative, but I can swing it if I do it myself. As the Chicago winter approaches I am not sure how much I will be able to install due to the weather conditions and only being able to work on the weekends. What type of problems will I encounter if the wall sheathing is exposed to the elements most of the winter? Thanks for your input.

The recipe for linoleum hasn't changed much in nearly 170 years, yet it's still one of the greenest floors money can buy.

The sheathing is currently covered with Tyvek housewrap
My experience is limited with Tyvek. Someone more knowledgeable should be along shortly. Half of good livin' is staying out of bad situations.
Tyvek spec says needs to be sided (covered) within 120 days of installation.
UV starts to break it down. Stuffs too expensive not to have it work properly.
Let it sit with tyvek and work inside. The labor savings of working in good weather will pay for a new ply of tyvek in the spring when you start again.
