Thanks.

The Tile Council of America puts out a handbook for ceramic tile installations that may give you what you need. www.tileusa.com/ In reality you may need the advice of an architect to design a water shedding wall that will work in your climactic conditions. For example: if the installation will be subject to the freeze thaw cycle, ceramic tile may be inappropriate but rather porcelain tile. You may need a membrane? What about expansion joints? Flashing?
See Schluter's Ditra Installation Handbook. It can be viewed online and downloaded(PDF).
It covers just about every combination of tile installation (indoor, outdoor, vertical surface, horizontal surface) and makes recommendations as to how to construct the subsurface for the tile. For me it was priceless information.
Once you select your circumstance, read and examine their diagrams and all subscripts and superscripts. Their text is succinct and to the point. If you choose to use their product (Ditra), makes sure you follow their recommendation for unmodified vs modified thinset.
I have used Schluter Ditra and highly recommend it (as many others on these forums have).
