I am looking for the name of the fabric that i’ve seen some builders put under cedar shakes. This fabric is used to form a continuous air space between the plywood and the siding. Does anyone use this? Do any of you have a better technique?

I use 1x2 furring strips, but have never used the mesh. It seemed a little pricey to me although the concept is sound.
Cedarbreather from Benjamin Obdyke
I recently used, at the strong recommendation of my architect, Cedarbreather by Benjamin Oopdyke. If you do a search for "Cedarbreather" in any of the search engines, you should find a web-page describing the product. If you need any additional info, let me know.
It looks like Benjamin Obdyke's "Rain Slicker" product would be the one to use on walls. Did you use cedarbreather on a roof or on walls?
I used cedarbreather on dormer sidewalls (exterior). I didn't realize there was another product for walls
