so my wife wants a dog fence on a house we are remodeling. The cost of PT now would make this a considerable expense in additon to the remodel so im looking for ways to save. She bought 32 2×12 x8’s pt from box store for 100$ the other day. They werw used as plant shelves for display and cant be resold otherwise. I was thinking of making the fence posts from these. ripping down, glueing and screwing, making a box column. Is this a terrible idea? What am I not considering? yes they are rated groubnd contact. thanks for any advice

How about making a post by creating a T section? Attach horizontal boards between the posts. Assemble two L sections to make a corner post.
Cost of screws and glue.
and cost of the other materials for the fence. and how long and high the fence needs to be.
The folks next door paid to put up a 6 foot fence, and they only used 4x4 posts.
Yes, it's a terrible idea. lol! That PT is most likely not rated for ground contact, much less being buried.
If you cut a PT board you can easily see that the treatment only penetrates part of the way into the board. If you cut the boards you will be exposing the cut edges to the environment and allowing premature decay. I never put cut PT in contact with ground regardless of it's rating.
