Even though they did a crummy job, the basic beige tile with brown grout looks pretty good. It's cheap and basic, but it still feels warm to look at.

Could I interest you in a nice off-white??
Is this for a tub surround? If so, for a tub surround consider off-white tiles, 4" squares, or if you want to go "upscale", subways. Subways can be had for $2 foot nowadays. Grout, go with a silvery grout or a gray grout. No white grout.
If a bathroom floor, 12" squares are basic, larger ones can give a bit of visual pop. Put them on a diagonal to visually open up the room.
