I had to sweep snow of the job this morning; Southern NY, elevation 1200ft.

Yesterday morning I had to put on a long sleeve shirt. Fall is here.
Fall is not here for me, it was almost 90 to day, and the forecast is for about the same, tomorrow. Good news is that a front is supposed to show up Saturday. Forecast is for a high of 75° on Saturday, and 68° on Sunday. The tv weather was teasing us with forecast lows as low as 47°. This being Texas, I'll wait and see.
Of course, Sunday is the end of Daylight Savings, which is about when 'we' change from stray hats to felt, might even be apt, this year . . .
I too am looking forward to spring. Another three or four months should just about get me there. I like Florida.
The Litchfield Hills in Connecticut got snow yesterday. It was beautiful on the fall foliage. It was about 30 this morning, so I rode my bicycle to work. Andy Engel, The Former Accidental Moderator

That is how we can tell fall is arriving around here. Actually, it has been very pleasant with highs ranging in the 70's and 80's except for about 90 yesterday. Forcast is calling for upper 60's Monday. That will be nice. Does anyone else love the smell of diesel on a nice cool morning?

That, and that hint of wood smoke on a still, cool night.
Not quite like fresh-burnt JP-4 over cold tarmac, though . . .
No fall color here, either--probably not until after this next front, but only if it hits the forecast lows arounf 45° . . . Occupational hazard of my occupation not being around (sorry Bubba)
A light whiff of diesel smoke evokes an early childhood memory of grilled hotdogs. I don't know if that means they were really bad hotdogs or if somebody just didn't let the lighter fluid burn off before putting the dogs on the grill.
Ahhhh, fall in Texas, when the heat indices are only two digits.
At least I turned off my AC, opened the windows and turned on the attic fan.
Time to get back to work on the house after spending the last few months too busy on a historical preservation project in Abilene.
Fall here in Wisconsin is just a brief stop between summer & winterrrrrrrrrr.
The only two words here for the next six months. Blowing & Drifting.
I know fall's here on one of those cool, crisp fall days when I can smell the corn as it's harvested. Really gets my blood pumping.
I love running the combine........Seeing the corn roll out......Running an (overloaded) truck into town.......Hearing a diesel engine roar as it pulls a loaded wagon up a hill.
Shelling corn is better than sex. Although DW doesn't like it when I say that. (-:

NW NJ, My backyard birdbath was frozen solid this morning. Old man winter's comin.

Yeah. And did you see the snowflakes yesterday? It's way too early for this stuff.
Yep. Although I'm no fan of the cold that comes with it(or moving it), I love the snow. I hear we're supposed to get slammed again.
Woohoo...bring it on! :)
