Hi,
Had a little problem on the job the other day.
The duct locations were well marked on the floor sheathing but
the finish floor went down before transferring the exact location!
Had a fair idea of where they were but didn’t want to screw up the finished floor of course.
First tried a stud finder to locate the joists, then tried a metal detector, but of course there were lots of nails in the T&G flooring.
No access under the floor to sight it visually.
Finally, I came up with a solution that worked.
I turned on the AC system and drilled a few 1/16th holes in the general location along the seams between the t&g planks. When I drilled one that blew the sawdust in my face I knew I had winner.
From there it was just a matter of opening that hole up to get the layout of the duct.
