What is a good finish nailer to purchase 16 or 15 gauge? Would an angle nailer be better than a straight nailer? Could you recommend a manufacturer?

*Hi Mack.I agree with Joe Fusco. I use only Senco, because I have never, mostly never, had a jam with Senco. I have tried some others. Some have worked good. But the Senco finish guns are the best, as far as I am concerned.Hope this helps.alan joseph [email protected]

What are the best ways to deal with installing window casing and corner blocks when the windows (Pella)are as much as 1/4 inch below the dry wall surface (i.. not properly installed). Craig Savage suggests pulverizing the dry wall but this does not overcome the problem of installing the corner blocks. Also when pulverizing dry wall, how should it be sealed to prevent I/I dust from dropping through the trim?
Thanks in advance

I like my two Sencos very much. I have a couple of the old Bostitch nailers that see only limited service now days. The Bostitchs were O.K. but the diference in quality is like the difference between a BMW and a Chevy Vega.
*Mack:This question has been discussed about 100 times here in the last 3 years. Frankly, all the reiteration bores me to death. Please use the search function.
*move your post to the main board, and extend the jambs on your windows. get a happy medium between real close and just a little bit beyond with the same thickness rip. best of luck.
*For stabilizing crumbling drywall, mix Weldbond with water about 3:1 and "soak" it into the bad area. If it's really badly mashed, then soaking in a 5:1 wash first may be better.
*Ditto on Calvin's advice.Windows may have been "correctly installed" just incorrectly ordered, or the exterior sheathing was thicker than anticipated.Extension jambs need to be ripped, leaving the drywall alone.Make them 1/8 inch over thickness, and if fussy... blockplane to the level of the sheetrock. Trim.
*Pellas are almost always installed poorly. A fix I have seen work well is to use clamps to pull the window in and flush up to drywall...Pellas come with aluminum nailing flange tight to window...The installer has to bend them out and this is where things get messed up...Pella knows about this...I even went so far as to offer to write a little sheet up to aid in install problems last year...clamps will help Pellas providing they have the proper jam,aj
