Finish Nailer – New vs. Reconditioned?

I am going to be buying a finish nailer for trim and other light uses around my house. Looking at various sellers, I can pay full price for a brand new tool, obviously good, since the tool is brand new. Alternatively, I can pay half that price for a “factory reconditioned” tool.
Good idea for household/hobby use, or am I just asking for trouble?
Thanks for any input,
Andrew

Only my opinion.
If it's going to be light duty around yhour house and you don't need it for professional usage, why not buy the leastr expensive good quality tool you can find?

I bought a reconditioned Senco finish nailer on Ebay from toolzoneinc. I don't believe it had ever been used. I use this gun occasionaly and didn't see the reason to pay for a brand new one. It works perfectly. I'd do it again in a hearbeat.

I actually look for reconditioned tools first. There's nothing to be afraid of buying reconditioned tools. Most come with the same warranty as brand new and you recieve the benefit of knowing that at least one additional set of eyes has gone over your tool before it became yours.
I've bought everything from circulars saws to drills to miter saws reconditioned and never had a problem with any of them. 90% of the time the tools look brand new. I've had a couple tools that had minor surface blemishes but even then, nothing that wouldn't happen to them anyway after a week on my truck. 100% of them have performed like 'brand-new'.
Go for it. Now you can buy more tools with money you've saved. And you can buy me one for helping you make these wise investments. ;)
I agree totally. Reconditioned tools are the first place to look.

I look for reconditioned tools, but I did get a Bosch router that had a seriously out-of-whack plunge base. I don't know how it made it through their QC.
Anyway, Bosch being Bosch, they sent me out another one as soon as I called, along with a return shipping label for the fubar one.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy reconditioned as long as it was a company where I trusted the warranty service.zak
