I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on this topic. What strentgh of concrete should be used? Should it be coloured in the mix or should the colour be added at the trowelling stage? When it is trowelled, just how flat and smooth should it be? Should the floor be sealed at the trowelling stage, or later once the concrete has cured and the water allowed to permeate out? Should the concrete be trowelled only ,or does it need to be polished? Sanded? What?
I ask these questions because the popularity of this type of flooring is on the increase ( witness the current homes featured in FH )and I’m getting alot of conflicting advice.

My understanding is that the answer to all these questions is the same--it doesn't matter. You finish the slab according to whatever strength properties and appearance the building plans call for. Radiant heat doesn't add to these requirements.
