Does anybody have a definitive answer on what finish will hold up the longest. My door supplier suggests an oil like watco applied every year. I have had good experience with polyureathane where not exposed to sun and rain. My jobs are both very exposed.

I like to use a Marine Grade Polyurethane...can't recall the specific name.
*David-I asked a question on this forum about what type of wood to use for exterior doors (last month), and several people offered input about what to use to finish the doors. Try searching for the thread, or see if you can find it in the main list. Personally, I use Schreuder Marine Yacht Varnish, imported from Holland by Fine Paints of Europe (www.finepaints.com). A friend who is a yacht builder said it's the only finish he and his colleagues will use, and so far, it has proven to be very, very tough (in a southern exposure in Central Vermont).Good luck.
