I just grouted the floor in my bathroom yesterday. Now that it is dry i noticed that the grout is very uneven in it’s color. I mixed exactly to the instructions and applied and cleaned just as specified. BTW this isn’t the first time I’ve ever grouted a tile floor, so I’m not a “beginner”. Is there any way to rectify this? I laid 12 x 12 tile with 1/8 joint. Should I grout over this again? Can that be done? Will a sealer even out the shading? Don’t know what to do, I’m just unhappy with the way the grout looks, light in some spots dark in other areas. The tile job came out great, now I’m bummed with the grout deal. Ughh!

Did you let the thinset cure properly before grouting? Sometimes if you grout to soon it will discolor the grout.
Several things will affect grout color;humidity, mixing dry first, different dye lots,mixing in many batches, windows, water contents, bucket, etc.
A couple of options now;
remove the grout and re-do (read not fun) or try to even it out with a grout stain. HD carrys Custom Building Products tile grout and if you used it, we can get you a stain that goes on over the grout to help even out the color. This also is not fun, but an option none-the-less. You can call Custom at (800)272-8786.
My first guess would be that you maybe used too much water when wiping down the grout and that rinsed the pigment out. ....or some grout was from a different lot#?
With some colors it's possible to mix a slurry of the grout and smear it over the installed grout to stain it an even color, being careful to use a minimum amount of water when wiping it off. Probably not the most permanent way to deal with the problem.
Good luck
