need to be ay least the size of the bolt, if any are crooked than make them bigger, not so big the washer doesn't work.
no turn left unstoned
Why you ask?
Bolts? What kind of barbarian uses bolts these days? Don't you know Simpsom makes straps, you just smash them flat, lay the foam and plate over, then wrap them around and pound a few 8's into the holes.
Round here bolts are the preferred technique. But then again until last year so was mammoth hide for siding and their tusks for framing. Only a mammoth shortage causing a drastic price increase, just try pricing mammoth hides these days, precipitated the change.
Things move a little slower in the south. Might be the heat. Might be the moonshine. The good o'l boy ain't tellin.
Here in earthquake contry we have to use them. Plus straps. Tim
