This is a bookstore that has alot deals on books. Overstocks, shop worn and the like.
But right now they have a lot of Taunton books for $2.95. And there are some others that are about 2/3 or 3/4 of list price. Just a hair better than Amazon.
Now I think that some of the are old editions, but at $2.95 they are still worth it.
Let see I just go Byrne’s Tile book, Fergsons’ Drywall book. And I OVERPAID for Nash’s fixing old houses at $3.95.
I though that I had order Haun’s book, but I must have mis clicked.
And they have the interior and exterior graphic details books, but I already have those.
No connection other than I placed my order BEFORE I posted this message knowing the vultures that hang out here.

Can't imagine why Taunton would object. These are "Remaindered" titles.
I think that means they are what is remaining after most have been sold for whatever reason, either printer produced too many, or marketing people undershot expectations and sales slowed.
Just like when you seen sales adds in clearance houses for tools "Just like seen on TV" the frontal high profit ones have already sold about all they're goiing to sell. What's left is purged at clearance to make room in the warehouse.

I was kidding about them killing the thread.
But I am not sure how the publishing world works. Many of these are still current titles, but it I know some have been re-issued and possibly updated. It is a little hard to tell from the inforation that Hamilton gives you some times unless you go back and compare ISBN numbers. But I am fairly certain that some of them still current.
They also send out a print catalog. A couple of months ago I saw Katz Door Hanger book in there for only a few bucks. But it was already gone. Must have only had the one.
David. I figure that there where a couple of other vutures out there.
I get their print catalouge. It's easier to browse.
I don't know that much about the publishing world either but it's easy enough to imagine.
Say that you invented a tool and had ten thousand of them made, expecting to sell at least nine thousand and getting a price break on the manufacture at ten thousand, or maybe that's a minimum contract.
Then after a year or two, you've only sold 1500 of them and sales are slowing instead of growing. You are paying a thousand a year for storage on them and it won't be long before the profite is eaten up on the ones you did sell.
Wisest choiuce is to dump what you have, cut your loses and run..

Or try advertising the tool wherever you can find FREE advertising space?

It took 3 seconds for that one to sink in. And then I roared!

Those books are probably returns or slightly imperfect. We sell them (by the pound, I think) to cut our losses.Andy Engel, The Former Accidental Moderator
