does anyone have any experience with the paslode full round head nails for a clipped head nailer? I’m “looking forward” to a 4×9 hardie panel siding job, with bats and trim, and don’t really want to buy a siding gun – saw these paslode nails, 2″ galv., and thought “hmmmm…”
I know a siding gun would be better as far as depth adjustment, but I think I can deal with it …my gun is a porter cable (don’t laugh) but it adjusts pretty well….
I welcome your comments….

how are you gonna control the depth with a framer???

WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
there is a depth control on my framer - I thought I'd use that....
it kinda works, and since I'll be covering the nails with bats, I thought it might not be so critical...
I am worried about the jamming that wooddust mentioned...
Imerc thought you meant nailing the siding with the framer.
I've shot quite a few full heads thru my clipped head Paslode with no more jamming than before. Haven't seen the clipped head nail for sale recently.
And, I've installed small amounts or Hardie with that gun with no problems.View Image
now I'm confused - I do mean to nail the siding with the frame gun, shooting 2" or 21/2" full round galvs out of my PC , then using the same for the bats and trim....
help me to understand....

I've done exactly what you're planning to do with no problems. I have two Paslode pistolas. One of them is harder to get the depth adjusted than the other. YMMVView Image
the palose FRH nails work in mt Senco and be carefiol of the over drive..
BTW some jamming...

I was forced to use paslode full round heads in my PC and they did work. But, my experience is you should be skilled at undoing jams just in case
With all the bats and trim, and the cost of paslode brand nails, you might be better off biting the bullet and getting a nice, light, coil siding gun (assuming this is for a whole house). A lot less fuss than dinkering with depth adjustments, jams, and a much heavier gun in general. I'd think using the right tool will save you a lot of grief.
I 'm leaning in that direction -
my lumber yard will make me a deal on a siding gun and nails - it's just a grip-rite, but the price is rite....and I don't have to drive a couple hours to get them paslode nails....
and then I can go into the siding business...
or not...
If it is a whole house you need to do.... Later, you could probably find other uses for the siding gun.... Or you could sell it on Craigs list or Ebay...
I had a PC framer once.... Called it my $300 nail starter. I think they make better and less expensive ones now... It finally broke - actually came apart. Sold it in a yard sale for $10. I have other (smaller) PC guns I'm happy with.
It's amazing how forgiving guns can be (sometimes). I once saw a guy shooting quick drive screws out of a Hitachi stick nailer. Not sure what his thought process was - if any... :-)
