I AM LOOKING FOR A SOURCE FOR GARAGE DOORS THAT OPEN LIKE REGULAR DOORS. SPLIT IN THE MIDDLE, BECAUSE OF THE 16′ SPAN.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE A RECOMENDATION.
THANKS

Ken-I doubt that you'll find off-the-shelf doors like you describe. There are a few shops and barns out here in west-central Alberta that have owner-built doors similar to what you want. The thing is, they are bi-fold type doors,so the hinges don't have to carry a full 8' swing. Also,as an added benefit, you won't have to park your car[horse,tractor,cows,combine,etc.]10'away from the building to open the bloody doors.Probobly have to build 'em yourself, though.
Luck,Fischer.
*Check out Hahns and DesignerDoors, both on the net. They have them in a variety of styles, but they're not cheap.SHG
*There is a site that sells bi-fold barn door plans (only plans) for $25:http://www.BARNPLANS.COM/order.htmlknow nothing about them. (I thought I posted this here earlier...)
*Ken- You may want to check with Holmes garage door They were recently purchased by Clopay. I used them on A recent project and was pleased with there quality. They custom make carriage style doors and custom to your specs. doors. I ordered two raised redwood panel with windows, good stuff. They are located in Auburn Washington and Sante Fe Springs California. The phone number in Washington is 253-931-8900. Hope this helps.
