New Whirlpool DUET gas dryer vented through floor and then out basement wall because new laundry room is in an internal location.Run only 11 feet with one right angle. Dryer overheated badly twice. There was no lint obstruction in the ducting. Whirlpool authorized service said there was nothing wrong with dryer since there were no error codes displyed. Whirlpool management gave us a full buyback when I complained. Now we have no dryer and the only dryer that will fit under the counter in our location is the one they bought back. Has anyone had a similar experience? What should we do besides hang the laundry outside which is what we are now doing? The serviceman said it overheated because of the venting method. However, the bottom vent method is illustrated in the installation manual that comes with the dryer.

Booster fan
BigAlb,
I would put in a booster fan to increase air flow. Make sure you are vented with smooth wall hard pipe and not the corrugated.

thanks. smooth wall pipe used throughout. the booster fan was recommended by our contractor after the overheating.
Like I said in the other thread, I would suspect that the gas valve was failing.
gas valve failure?
did not see your other comment about the gas valve. where is it?
I suspect that the unit uses a modulated valve, to control the amount of heat and meet energy efficiency standards. If the valve fails to modulate the temperature will climb to a relatively high value but probably remain within design limits (and not trigger the overheat fuse, etc).
But of course that only one theory. A bad computer could have done it, eg.
Clothes dryers catch fire due to lint accumulation (though often abetted by some sort of malfunction).
One short idea
How much pressure are you getting on the outside/vent? The technician should have been able to check that. I did have a vent that was clogged at the outlet flap (it had the 3 flaps and the lint just built up over time my piping was clear sailing). I know this is really basic stuff but just something to dbl check. My ? to him would be that the dryer is moving a lot of air to the outside and if your pipe is fine how is it overheating then? I know, anyone can ask a ? without an answer, but hope this helps.
