Good afternoon, to all,
I’m new to the forum, the Taunton staff recommended I aks you folks. I’m interested in a CAD software program (for non-professional use) to design my own house. Have any of you used any? I asked Tauton if they’d completed any reviews, but as of yet they have not.
I’m willing to spend whatever it takes to get a good software program. I want to design my house myself and then I’d take my design to an architech for them to do a “final overview” to ensure I hadn’t missed anything.
If anyone can offer any advise, it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks, CAD Searcher

Why don't you download SketchUp, now free from Google.
Easy to use and the price is right.
There are a large number of discussions here about cad programs. Se if yu can get the Search function to work ... upper left corner.
To answer your question ... do you want to do 2d or 3d drawings? How computer literate are you? Do you have any experience drawing house plans?
You can get programs for free (Sketchup) to $100 (AutoSketch, 2d), to more than $1000 (Chief Architect or SoftPlan, 3d).
