Hey all BT”ers Hope everyone had a MERRY CHRISTMAS.
I’m hoping to get an idea of what people are charging for crown
molding.
The basics are that the house is in a brand new subdivision, less
than a year old and around the $250,000 and up in range.
I’m here in southern Ontario, Canada region.
The house is occupied and furnished, and all ceilings are 9 foot.
Rooms included are a main bath, that has many angles(inside and outside
22.5’s and 60/30’s) front foyer, kitchen/living room, hall, and master
with ensuite.
The material will be paint grade and around 350 lin/’
Now will most price per foot or per job.Would obviously be nicer
if the house was still under construction but no can do there, lol.
I will also be doing the finish painting as well so there is
going to be a lot of drop sheets and plank and horses to move around
which is why I’m posting. I have just completed a couffered ceiling
(12×12 room/office)for this customer with great success so I am gauranteed the job but
I want to keep the price honest and justifiable .
thanks all for your advice and input

Standard 3 1/2" or 4 1/2" crown? Single board? (meaning not built-up of several pieces)
hey jmadson crown will be 41/2 and not a built up profile
jamar,
pre-prime and finish 1 coat before you install, then just putty and you don't have to cut as tightly to do your 2nd/final coat of paint......speeds things up IMO...

Here in southern Calif. the going rate is $5.00 L.F. to install. (Painting is extra) If there is massive amounts of furniture in the way, ask the customer to move it out of the way to save some bucks if they wish. If the house is not really packed with furniture, it should not be a big thing. Just move everything to the center of the room. My partner and I can do a five room house in less then a day, which is around 300 to 350LF. Paint grade with tight miters. We also use Alex Plus caulk in all the mitered corners to fill any possable voids. No reason to give the client something to nit pick even if you are doing the painting.
You guys have a minimum job cost for those clients that just want their bathrooms done? - say a 6'x10' room? Seems like it wouldn't be worth all the setup unless you were charging a minimum trip charge of $400 or so. So a 10x10 room would be the same as anything smaller.JT
