Well, I never had a green refrigerator, but I did put a glass block wall in a shower I built 3 years ago. It was a very small bathroom, and using glass block allowed a lot of light into the room. The Johnbridge forum has lots of photos and questions about glass block showers, so it's not a dead design, yet.

At your age you don't remember avocado and harvest gold?
I didn't say I didn't REMEMBER it. I just happened to have dodged that particular bullet...
Here's one I just finished. The glass block was imported from Italy.

Huck that is a beautiful shower.
Just the right amount of everything.
Thanks. The colored block was the client's choice. I suggested the clear on top of the bench to keep the door dry. The blueprints showed a 3-0, 8-0 pocket door. I told them pocket doors always have problems with the slide hardware eventually, and one that big would be difficult for their handicapped son to use (they already had one 3-0, 8-0 very cumbersome pocket door, which proved my point). And furthermore, with a pocket door, we wouldn't have been able to put an outlet and a medicine cabinet next to the door. So I suggested a swinging door, with glass block to keep it dry in the open position."...craftsmanship is first & foremost an expression of the human spirit." - P. Korn

Is that the Vetro-Arredo block? We used it in our bathroom both as an exterior window and as the shower enclosure. Any water spotting doesn't bother us, but maybe we don't look closely. Do I see that you filled the vertical seam on the block bullnose end with grout? I left it unfilled thinking that would look best, but what I see in your photo looks very nice.

I still see glass block sometimes in showers - but remember clear glass will get water-spotted (unless it has Diamon-Fusion coating.
Nice shower, Huck!

Umm I don't know, I put glass block in my shower (both back and front wall) last year. but then I also have an old fashioned pull chain toilet with high mounted tank and Claw foot bathtub..
I am definatly not MAIN STREAM !
Never had a green fridge, but had a 'harvest gold' one. Came with the house when I bought it. Sears Kenmore, natch. Finally scrapped that fridge when the compressor leaked dry last year. Local appliance guy told me the new refrigerants don't last like the older stuff that's now outlawed. (My 1948 Hotpoint still runs fine on its original charge of Freon from 61 years ago. Go figger....)
Oh. Duh. Sorry, got carried away on fridges....
Glass block showers? Yeah. Not dated or campy at all. Considered high-end and elegant. But expensive. Did this one a few years ago as part of a full-basement finishing job; 30x60 shower with two wrap-around G-B walls, about seven grand.
