Basement entrance door is currently 30″ x 75″. I have appx, 4″-6″ all around doorway of void space. Should I put in a larger door? Is there any negative in putting in a bigger door?

My 2cents, always go with the bigest door you can fit into the given space, you will not regrett it. In your case, follow the swing of the door and see if you have the same clearance throughout the arc. There is usually a reason for a door like you discribed to be cut down.
Ya man but your gonna have to go back some for the reason?
It's in the previous owners wallet. Did you hear the one about the home owner picking up the door off the trash pile? You could hear him saying- wow why would anybody throw out a perfectly usable door.

If the door is near a cornerof a masonry or conrete foundation, the wall space left might be critical in the stability of the foundation and shear if it is testeed by seismic forces, wind, a big wave, frost in the ground or whatever.

I was kinda interpreting that to mean it was kinda floating in the breeze, so I thought fill the void-with door.
