On hvac talk there is a big long “Goodman Country” thread in which the tech talks about all the Goodman repetitive problems he is seeing. same over and over –
is there no feedback to the factory?
Some look easily fixable (tubing rubbing inside the unit) . Some would take money (thicker sheetmetal)
Anyone else having same?

Goodman has as good or better quality as anyone else in the industry. The cheapest stuff they make is cheap. The best Goodman equipment is as high a quailty as Trane, or York, or Lennox, et al.
The "majors" have done an excellent job of discrediting this line of products, because they have cut deeply in the other guys market share. Goodman and its sister line Amana, are the dominant manufacturer in the residential HVAC market, with over 20% market share.
Lieftime warranty on heat exchanges, 10 year unit replacment guarantee and lifetime compressor warranty on the hi SEER units. Who can beat it? I have a dozen in the warehouse. The sheetmetal cabinet is flimsy, but I've never seen any that aren't. It a furnace, not a work scaffold or a structural support. For something that sits in a closet or a basement, whats the point.
Do you know anything anything about what Goodman offers it distributors and installers.
I had a contractor contact me today about replacing a Goodman compressor. Said he had $400 into the job. His employee is incompetent and he wants Goodman to foot the bill. BTW, 95% of all "warranty" claims are due to installer error.
thanks

=============
what is the message?
One was a question: Do you know the policies and provision that Goodman has in place to accommodate their installers in the event a warranty repair is necessary?
The other was a statment of fact about warranty issues with Goodman and any other HVAC equipment manufacturer. That statement was: "95% of all warranty claims are due to installer negligence/mistakes/ignorance and not due to a faulty product."
what is the 95% based on- is that an opinion?
I've read those threads and took a second look at 2 recent installations specifically on those points, one the exact same model as one of the pix shown on hvac where the liquid line with the drier/filter is rubbing on the suction line. The Goodman unit I looked at (CPLJ48) had over 1" separation between all internal piping, all brazing looked good, and was even a 'scratch and dent' unit from desco/ebay. The air handler needed 5 extra braces added to be able to install it where wanted without big time cabinet distortion, otherwise OK. The GE variable speed motor in that GoodM unit is nice, well balanced.
One thread on hvac talks about installers rolling the outdoor unit end over end from the truck instead of using a hand truck!!!! That's gotta be good on a unit. <G>
I hope refrigerators are not handled like that.
I am amazed that Goodman does not fix the thin sheet metal issue. sheet steel is really cheap. they could add a 1/16 thickness for what $50?
They at least offer/have Copeland scrolls now on some models
