At $1300 they sure not for everyone, but they are light weight & well designed. What made the decision for me was the miro-adjustment on the tilt. Nice improvement over what I have now.

Oh! ya bastid!
I feel sorry for you.Everybody knows about festools poor reputation. If it makes you feel better, I'll trade you my Jepson mitre saw....circa 1987...cast iron...none of those silly features that are the fashion these days....think about it!
congrats on your new baby

You got to test drive one, not take it home . . . yeah?
Real trucks dont have sparkplugs
My local dealer got in 4 pallets of them. We broke open the first load & I opened one up. Got to take it to the back room & play with it. Can't take it home for a few weeks- it's in quarantine. I can visit Mondays & Thursdays from 1 to 2:15.Seriously I don't understand how the dealer can be sitting on 50 of them & not sell one.
If they sell one before July 1, they lose everything. Festool has rules. Dealers follow. If you're caught even once breaking the agreement, Festool shows up with a truck, takes an inventory, cuts a check, packs it, and is out. You're done dealin. Its happened.
Frankly, I kind of like that part. It levels the playing field. You can't compete on price, and the Walmarts of the world aren't attracted. So its all about service, and the little guy has just as equal a shot at it as someone with a large bankroll.
We got ours a couple of weeks ago. Lots and lots. We have one we pulled as a demo to use in house and show, but a lot of them are pre sold, just waiting for the release date. Real trucks dont have sparkplugs
That's along the lines of what my dealer told me, only he called it branding. I call it price fixing. Every other item in the store is price competitive & they sell inventory when it arrives. I assume you had to pay for yours before it arrived & now you have to carry the load until allowed to sell.
I like the quality of their product & own several, but if another company produced product of equal quality I'd be inclined to switch. The price really doesn't bother me as much as the policy.
The policy isnt that strange. The same goes for the music and some electronic industries like game consoles, they have a release date which the stores have agreed to honor and can be penalized for breaking the agreement. Im glad to be able to own the Festool products I have. About a month ago my ATF 55 had a problem with the armature, as I am fortunate enough to live 5 minutes from a repair center, I brought it in and was back to work with it within 45 minutes. The repair tech literally stopped what he was doing just to help me because he knew I needed that tool now. Thats excellent customer service. Anyway, waiting for that tool would drive me crazy too. Post on how you like it.
Boy you weren't kidding about the Kapex police. Stopped by my retailer on my way out today to pick it up & there was a factory rep there. I could have sworn he was taking inventory. Worked with the saw today, loved the saw- don't know how much I like the company.
yeah I saw a kapex rep. at my local store, I think he was there for good, not evil
I <3 Festool
I been outta the loop for a while...
Can you please tell me what a Kapex is?
Expert since 10 am.
the Kapex

WOW!!! What a Ride!Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Looks like a cheap Ronco kitchen appliance. It cuts, it bevels, it slides, look how thin you can cut this piece of burl, and we all know how hard that is. Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap. And it's only $xxxx.xx. and look! If you buy it now we'll throw in nothing! And if you buy 2 it's exactly twice as much!Seriously though, it's sweet.
Oh, I found a package deal. Buy the Kapex and the dust collector, get a $49 discount! Now only $1741.00!http://www.cpofestool.com/products/p2561287.htmlhttp://www.cpofestool.com/products/561287.html?ref=googaw&kw=%7Bkeyword%7D

Keep waiting...
Since you seem to like tools a lot, maybe you haven't seen this place, it's nice. I bought a gardening cd from them years ago, and got on their mailing list. Now they have some woodworking tools. They look nice.

It looks like "the bomb", as they say in the 'hood. At that price, it's another reason to get paid in euros...Expert since 10 am.

Now you have to get one of these.

Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
It only has a stand on one side- you'd have to get two. There is a problem with the wings & the Saw-helper stand. These wings cannot be pulled straight up, they can only slide out the side. I'm going to contact Saw-helper on Tuesday to see about a new mounting bracket.
Sawhelper has already developed a new bracket specifically for the Kapex.
I think, operative word, that http://www.festooljunkie.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/77_198/sawhelper-miter-stand/
is the only online place with it at the moment.Real trucks dont have sparkplugs
Cool!
Using your "old" saw while anticipating the emancipation of your new saw must be a bit of a tease. I hope to hear a longterm, real world evaluation of the performance and durability of the Kapex from you and the other early adopters.
