Architects sometimes take a bit of a bashing around here, but there are a number of really talented house designers who produce great work.
Here are a number of my favorite projects. Because I’m based on Vancouver Island, they tend to reflect a certain regionally appropriate West Coast aesthetic. I’d be interested to see other people’s lists of designers doing great work in their area.
Beach cabin
Long residence
Hill country jacal
Joe’s House
Wine Creek road residence

Lake Flato is a fellow CAD user (ARRIS cad) and a great firm.

Great work. A bit of a ringer as far as being West Coast, but definitely in the same spirit of real engagement to a specific region.
Any more you can think of?
I like architect James T. Hubbell's "Sea Ranch Chapel" in Sonoma Cty., CA. This little chapel is crafted like a piece of furniture, a real jewel.

Interesting designs.
BC must have totally different energy codes than WA.
It would take a week of paperwork to be able to put that much glass on a house here, if even possible, not even sure it would be possible without big $$$$.
Only Joe's House is in Canada. The Seattle area is the hotbed for this kind of stuff. I don't know how they get away with it. Our codes are very stringent on building envelope design, but from what I've read here, pretty slack compared to yours in seismic, wind and energy requirements.
Here is another one. It uses moveable walls to open up a lake front house in the BC interior to cool the house in summer.
